Incredible 18th century Welsh vernacular armchair. I have a special affinity for these as my great-great-great-great-great grandfather (phew) was a gamekeeper in Pembrokeshire. I hope he sat on a chair just like this one.
This example is after the popular Sheraton style and would have been more or less contemporary with the London examples. I think people sometimes forget that places like Haverfordwest were huge market towns and had boats coming in daily from Liverpool and Bristol. New styles of furniture would have been seen and exchanged just a few weeks after having been made in the capital and elsewhere.
