One of my favourite finds of late. An 18th century Welsh sycamore ale spoon. The bowl has ebonised to a beautiful leathery black. The rat tail decoration suggests that the maker was probably familiar with silver patterns - maybe they worked at a country house or similar? Wonderful scroll to the handle. All unnecessary decorations that show the love put into this by the carver.
